Sale Detachment

No.1 Squadron, 42nd (Lancashire) Infantry Divisional Signal Regiment, TA

Throughout most of its history, No.1 Squadron was co-located with Regimental Headquarters. In 1961 whilst based at Norman Road, Rusholme, No.1 Squadron was re-titled No.2 Squadron, and acquired a detachment at Sale. This was a result of the departure of No.2 Squadron at Glossop to become part of 64th Signal Regiment TA and the arrival of a replacement Squadron at Cross Lane, Salford. The Salford Squadron had previously been No.1 Squadron of 59th (Mixed) Signal Regiment and it was permitted to keep its Squadron number.
