This was a bombing & reconnaissance squadron based at Rafa, Egypt. 27 March 1917 Attached from 7th Battalion Manchester Regiment - a pre-war territorial who volunteered for ‘Imperial Service’ overseas in 1914. Originally mobilized to command No.4 (Manchester) Brigade Signal Section, he commanded the Signal Company May-November 1916.
Buried in the Kantara War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.

42 Signal Squadron is still recruiting spare-time soldiers to train on Tuesday evenings,  weekends, plus a 2-week exercise each year, often abroad. 
Applicants should be medically and physically fit, and aged 17 - 32 (can be older with previous military experience).
