Second Lieutenant Alexander John Ellis

to duty. During a heavy enemy attack he was sent forward to endeavour to
restore communication with Infantry Brigades in the front line. Under most
difficult conditions he located the Brigades, and during the withdrawal
which followed maintained continuous communication between the Brigades
and Divisional Headquarters. He finally established a Forward Divisional
Report Centre which proved to be of great value. He rendered valuable
service, and showed great coolness and courage. |
